Editor’s Note: It is highly critical that Diaspora Ethiopians rally behind the Global Alliance announced today. This is the only way we can handle our people are facing in Saudi Arabia. There is no any other way.
Don’t get mad, Get even!

No amount of anger, emotional turmoil, or madness can solve the heart-wrenching dilemma Ethiopian migrants are experiencing in Saudi Arabia today.

Getting mad and going out on a protest may help us release our frustration and provide a temporary psychological relief but the problem won’t go away. As we speak, children are crying of hunger, women and young girls are being gang raped, and young men are being killed. We need a practical and a long term approach to these devastating problems our people are facing on a daily basis in Saudi Arabia today.

Hence the formation of a coordinating task force, “ Global Alliance for the Rights of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia” announced by Diaspora activists today. The problem we are facing is gigantic. We have a mercenary anti-Ethiopian mafia group sitting on the throne in Ethiopia. Not only TPLF refused to come to the rescue of desperate Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia, it has in fact stood on the side of Saudi Arabia. TPLF has declared that Saudi Arabia has the right to do what it is doing now condoning the rape and murder of Ethiopians migrants in Saudi. So, we have no government to care after our desperate Ethiopians in Saudi. And we are worse than the Palestinians who have no land of their own but they do have a government of their own who fights for their rights.

It is critical that we rally behind this Global Alliance if we want rescue our people. There is no any other way. There are more than 30,000 Ethiopian migrants in Saudi Arabia we need to take care of at this time. The logistics and the financing that are needed to rescue our people is huge. It requires the contribution of all of us to make it work. Getting mad is not the answer. The correct response is to go beyond the protests and the anger. We should get even by actually doing more than we can for months to come.

We should all set up a Global Alliance Task Force in all cities, countries, and continents where Ethiopians live and work. We should cooperated with the Global Alliance leaders, namely, Activist Abebe Gellaw, Activist Tamagn Beyene, and Activist Berhanu Damte (Aba Mella) as soon as possible. We should mobilize all of us to solve this devastating shame and humiliation in our history.
